Trent Oeltjen is the newest Dodger after having his contract purchased from Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday to replace Ronnie Belliard, who was designated for assignment. Oeltjen, 27, bats and throws left-handed. He hit .347 in 49 games at Albuquerque after joining the club at midseason, when he opted out of a contract while playing for Milwaukee's Triple-A affiliate.

Masterson (6-12) allowed a run on six hits and two walks over seven innings with five strikeouts in last night's 6-1 win over the Angels. He has gone 4-7 with a 4.98 ERA in 16 starts since beating the Red Sox, 11-0, with a two-hitter in early June. He has allowed a total of three runs over 20.2 IP in his last three starts.

Ian Stewart (ribs) will be rested for the next few days after suffering a setback during batting practice Tuesday. Stewart was expected to begin a minor league rehab assignment Wednesday in anticipation for a return from the disabled list Friday, but that won't be happening now. The Rockies will see how he feels in a few days, but fantasy owners should be prepared to live without him down the stretch. Melvin Mora has been manning third base recently, but Jonathan Herrera, Clint Barmes and Chris Nelson are all capable of playing third base.

The Marlins have officially scratched Josh Johnson (back) from Friday's start. Johnson will be return to South Florida on Wednesday to have his back and throwing shoulder examined by Dr. Lee Kaplan. "We're more concerned with his back than his shoulder," said Marlins interim manager Edwin Rodriguez. "We're going to fly J.J. back to Miami. They're going to check his back and his shoulder. He's going to miss the start on Friday. Then we will decide if he'll be able to pitch next week or not." This couldn't have come at worse time for fantasy owners, but there's a real chance that he could be shut down for the rest of the season.
